NAR's GREEN Designation
This two-day course gives students a broad understanding of green Real Estate principles--from the concepts of sustainability, New Urbanism, and smart growth to the application of industry ratings and evaluation standards in Real Estate. As a practical resource, this course shows Real Estate professionals how to explain to consumers what makes a home, building, or property green, how to list and market green properties while fulfilling ones legal and professional obligations, and how to implement green practices on the road and in the office. In addition, this course discusses how Real Estate consumers can determine the energy efficiency of their properties, take advantage of green grants and initiatives, and reduce everyday toxins in the home and workplace. NAR's Green Designation Core Course counts as credit toward earning the NAR's Green Designation, awarded by the Green REsource Council. This course also meets the elective course requirement for the ABRŪ Designation awarded by the Real Estate Buyers Agent Council (REBAC).
GREEN Residential Elective
This one-day course builds upon the green concepts and principles of the core course while taking a more advanced look at what green strategies, practices, and considerations occur in residential Real Estate. Completing this elective after the core course will qualify a student to apply for the GREEN Designation. This can also be a stand-alone course for anyone interested in learning more about the green lifestyle.
Green Commercial Elective
NAR's Green Designation Commercial Elective Course will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of commercial green building principles, products and practices. Coming in the summer of 2009, this one-day, six-hour course will be available both online and in a classroom setting, and count toward earning NAR's Green Designation.
