Hash Codes for your Palm OS Treo

I want to share with all of you some “hidden codes” to help you diagnose issues on your Palm OS Treo Smartphone.  This should help you understand what is going on with your device if you are experiencing multiple resets.  Once you know which Application or program is causing the error you can get a plan of attack on how to resolve the issue.

Hash Codes allow the Treo user the ability to look up the last crash of an Application.  To activate these codes go to your Phone Application by hitting the green telephone icon on your keypad. Dial the codes as if you are dialing a number to make a call.

Each Carrier has a different formula to follow:

Sprint enter "##" before every code

   Verizon enter "#*#(enter code here)#"

   AT&T and T-Mobile enter "#*(enter code here)"

Codes:

377 - Displays the last error which caused a soft reset, and the program that was running, line number, etc.

786 - This the Phone Information Page.  It tells you how many minutes the device has on it, how much data has transpired, the warranty date, software versions, ESN, etc.

49878 - Is a troubleshooter tool.  It allows you to test your buttons, sound, vibration, and etc. Try this one it's really cool.

If the error code is related to the Phone Application, it is an issue to take to your Carrier.

If the error code is related to an add-on program, it should be deleted.  If this resolves the issue you don’t need to take any other action but can choose to reload the program again.

If the error code is related to a factory installed program, it should be removed.  If it is a program you do not use, you don’t need to do anything else.  If it is a program you do want to use, just reload it onto the device; these factory installed programs can be found on the Palm website,
